How do I get an NHS referral for surgical treatment at Deeping Surgical?

Patients registed with a Lincolnshire GP can request a referral for surgical treatment (for the listed NHS procedures that we are commissioned for) to Deeping Surgical. Ask your GP or primary care clinician you are consulting with to refer you via the NHS e-Referral Service (eRS). Ensure that you qualify for an NHS referral by checking the referral criteria for NHS referrals for the specific condition this information is available on our services pages under the individual procedures.

How do I organise a private treatment at Deeping Surgical?

Please contact our administration team by phone or email (fill in our contact us page on the website) to discuss private treatment options. We will provide pricing, appointment availability, and guide you through the next steps for private care.

What information will I receive prior to the appointment?

Once your appointment is booked, we will send written confirmation along with information about your procedure, what to expect, how to prepare, and any specific instructions relevant to your treatment.

What happens on the day of treatment?

On arrival, you’ll be welcomed by our reception team. You will have a consultation with a specialist clinician who will review your symptoms, discuss your concerns, and confirm the treatment plan. A thorough consent process is carried out by a qualified clinician who has detailed knowledge of the procedure, ensuring you understand the benefits, risks, and aftercare before proceeding.

Where do I park?

Free patient parking is available onsite at Deeping Surgical.

Can someone accompany me?

Friends or family can drop you off and pick you up after the procedure, but due to clinical safety and privacy, they may not be allowed to remain with you during your treatment unless necessary.

Do I take my usual medication?

In most cases, you should continue taking your usual medication. However, if you are on blood thinners (e.g. warfarin, apixaban, rivaroxaban. Clopidogrel), specific instructions will be given prior to your appointment on whether to pause or adjust your dose.

What should I wear?

Wear loose, comfortable clothing that is easy to change or adjust, especially if your procedure involves the arm, leg, or upper body. Avoid jewellery or valuables where possible.

Can I eat and drink before my appointment?

Most procedures at Deeping Surgical are performed under local anaesthetic, so fasting is not required unless we advise you otherwise. You may eat and drink as normal beforehand.

How long will my appointment take?

Most procedures are completed within 30–60 minutes, though we recommend allowing up to 90 minutes for arrival, consultation, treatment, and aftercare instructions.

Will I need time off work?

This depends on the procedure and your occupation. Many patients return to work the next day, but we will give you specific advice at your appointment. A sick note can be provided by the operating surgeon and you can ask for this at the preop consultation or ask the nurse looking after you in post op recovery.

What aftercare support is available?

You will receive written aftercare instructions before you leave. Our clinical team is available if you have concerns after your procedure, and you may request a follow-up if needed to discuss any concerns.
